What is involved
Two jobs, not one.
Clearing a gutter and cleaning a fascia are asked for together and are genuinely separate pieces of work.

Clearing the run
Removing moss, silt and leaf litter so water gets to the downpipe. A gutter that looks fine from the ground can still be holding standing water.

Cleaning the boards
Fascias, soffits and cladding are what you see from the pavement. Cleaning them is cosmetic work and it changes how the whole front of a house reads.

Checking the flow
Once cleared, the run gets checked so we know the water actually goes where it should rather than over the edge.

We look at the run, the downpipes and where the standing water is. A gutter that looks fine from the pavement can still be holding water at the far end.

The half you can see
Clearing the gutter fixes the problem. Washing the boards fixes the look.
A blocked gutter is a water problem. It overflows down the wall, soaks the render, and in a bad winter finds its way inside. Clearing it is maintenance, and on a house under trees it is maintenance that wants doing more than once a year.
The boards under it are a different thing entirely. Fascias, soffits and UPVC cladding are the trim of the house, and they collect a grey-green film that makes a well kept property look tired from the pavement. Washing them changes the front of a house more than most jobs twice the price.
They are priced separately because they are separate work, and because deeply chalked plastic does not always come back to white. Where that is the case we would rather set the expectation before you book than explain it afterwards.

Do you use ladders?
Not as a matter of course. Gutters are cleared with a vacuum on a pole from ground level, which is safer and does not put weight against your guttering.
How high can you reach?
Three storeys from the ground on most properties. Above that, or where access is awkward, it gets surveyed rather than guessed.
Do you clear downpipes as well?
Yes, and it matters: a clear gutter feeding a blocked downpipe still overflows. Pipes are rodded and flushed as part of the job, and we only charge for a blockage if we find one.
Will you show me it is clear?
Yes. A camera on the pole photographs the run before and after, so you can see the state of it rather than take our word.
How often should gutters be done?
It depends far more on trees than on the calendar. A house under mature trees can need it twice a year; an open plot might go two.
Can you clean the fascias at the same time?
Yes, and it is the sensible time to do it since we are already set up. It is priced as an addition because it is separate work.
Do you repair guttering?
We clear and clean rather than repair. Where we spot a cracked section, a dropped bracket or a failed joint we tell you what we saw and exactly where it is.
What about the conservatory gutter?
The low run around a conservatory is done by hand and priced as an addition. It fills faster than the main run because it sits under everything else.
